Located close to the mighty Drakensberg Mountains, west of the Kruger National Park in South Africa, lies Makalali, a 10 000 hectare game reserve, opened in April 1996. Characteristic species to be found are Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Elephant, Giraffe, White Rhino, Zebra, Kudu and an array of other antelope and smaller mammals.
(Makalali means "Place of Rest" in local Shangaan language)
